LVACTS Upgrade
Article 1.1.1

Spring, 2000

ITS implementation is moving ahead in Las Vegas, with the major upgrade and expansion of Las Vegas Area Computerized Traffic System (LVACTS) nearing completion. 750 2070N controllers and 45 video cameras are being installed valley wide. Microwave, fiber optic and twisted wire pair communications are in place, and the new ICONS software is being used for the arterial system. The LVACTS annual budget is now over $1 million in local funds, and provides for system operation, maintenance, and a staff of ten that serves the four local agencies responsible for traffic signals in Las Vegas.
